Meet Trevor
My name is Trevor Keegan and I am a life-long Kansan and have been a resident of Lenexa since 2006. I grew up on a farm in the small community of Baileyville located in northeast Kansas in Nemaha County. Growing up on a farm taught me the value of a hard day’s work, and growing up in a small community like Baileyville taught me the value of being a good neighbor. That is one of the reasons I have chosen to make my home in Lenexa, because it has that small town friendly atmosphere.
Growing up I was involved on the family farm and also active involved in the community in organizations like 4-H. After graduating high school I continued to be involved in the family farm, but I also chose to pursue a degree at Kansas State University, graduating with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Industrial Engineers are efficiency experts, always looking for the most efficient and cost effective ways to do something. This is the exact type of expertise that we need in local government. Our government’s goal needs to be to utilize our tax dollars in the most efficient way possible while also being as efficient as possible in delivering the vital services that the city provides.

After I graduated from Kansas State University in 2006, I took a job with an information technology consulting firm and moved to Lenexa. I have been working in IT ever since, and this has allowed me to expand my understanding of the world through different experiences and traveling throughout the country. I have had the opportunity to work in many different states and multiple countries. Having this experience has allowed me to realize how special Lenexa is.
In addition to my day job, I am also a small business owner. I am the farm manager of our family farm in Baileyville and I also own and operate a small business with my wife in Lenexa. My experience owning a business in Lenexa has given me several opportunities to work directly with city staff and I understand the importance of the services that the city provides. I also understand the importance of managing a budget, which I feel is a key quality for our elected officials.
In my personal life, I have been married to my loving wife Elizabeth since 2016 and we recently had a baby, Oliver, who is now three months old. We enjoy spending time with family and exploring new parts of Kansas City, as well as the occasional cooking class. We both love giving back to our community, through organizations like Operation Breakthrough, the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA), and the Great Plains SPCA.
I have always been interested in public service and have looked for ways to give back to the community that has given so much to me. That is why in 2018 I entered the race for US Congress. While that campaign was unsuccessful, it taught me a lot about what it takes to be a successful public representative. I decided to enter the race for city council because I want to make sure Lenexa remains a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I believe that I have a lot of valuable experience and skills that will allow me to be a successful city councilperson, and I look forward to the opportunity to give back to the community.
